Biography
Dušan Fišer (1962) is an artist whose practice addresses selected cultural and social aspects of contemporary everyday life. In layered works bringing together geometric painting, sculpture and optical art, he examines how images and objects appear in an age of information overload. In 1989, he graduated from the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Ljubljana, under Prof. Metka Krašovec, and in 1991 completed postgraduate specialist studies in painting under Prof. Emerik Bernard. He furthered his studies at Minerva Academy in Groningen, the Netherlands. He has worked and exhibited consistently since 1990. His visual art practice also encompasses stage design, curating, mentoring in education and directing cultural programmes. He currently serves as programme director of the Ptuj City Gallery. Fišer lives and works in Ptuj.
