Biography
Lili Saje Wang (1987) is an illustrator and graphic designer. In 2016, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, receiving an excellence award for her graduation project at the international Youth Design Exhibition in Nantong, China. Since 2017, she has worked as an independent cultural professional. She regularly exhibits at home and abroad, including at the Slovenian Biennial of Illustration since 2018, with children's and young adult book illustration holding a special place in her practice. She also illustrated the permanent exhibition Bogastvo obrti (The Richness of Crafts) at the Tržič Museum and designed and illustrated the programme for Vodnik's Homestead in Šiška from 2019 to 2022. Her work is distinguished by its poetic quality, subtle visual expression and exceptional sensitivity to light, which lends each scene a distinctive mood. Her images tell stories gently through small scenes, closely intertwining Slovenian and Chinese visual traditions with her personal experience of growing up between the two cultures.
