Biography

Marko Turk is a Slovenian photographer living and working in Ljubljana. His work explores the silence between people: moments when someone pauses and forgets they are being watched. He mainly works with analogue photography, drawn to its unpredictability and the small surprise that comes when a film is developed. His photographs are never entirely sharp, yet this makes them more honest. Disillusioned with the culture of immediacy, he decided years ago to work slowly, developing each series over months, sometimes years. He says photography lies not in what you see but in what remains after you leave a space. He has collaborated with Slovenian galleries and received nominations in regional competitions. Alongside his artistic practice, he teaches analogue photography and believes everyone should develop their own first film at least once in their life. His works are personal rather than promotional, and this is precisely what makes them worth seeing.
