Meta Šolar

Meta Šolar (1989) graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana in 2014. Her painting primarily explores the human figure, drawing inspiration from the natural sciences, mysticism and art history. Motifs from these fields converge around the figure, which remains the focus of her practice. Her acrylic and oil paintings often comprise layers of interwoven images that invite the viewer to unravel them. Šolar actively exhibits in Slovenia and internationally, including group exhibitions in London, Italy and Japan. She has presented her work in more than twenty solo exhibitions, including at Galerie Korotan in Vienna. In 2016, she undertook a month-long residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
