Klemen Malovrh
Director of the Kranj Institute of Tourism and Culture
Dear visitors to Kranj, We are about to embark on the landmark 15th edition of the Kranj International Festival of Fine Arts. Over the years, the festival has grown into one of Slovenia’s foremost visual arts events and an important meeting point for Slovenian and international contemporary art. We are proud that Kranj is once again opening its doors to artists of different generations, perspectives and forms of artistic expression, thereby reaffirming its role as the cultural centre of the Gorenjska region.
The festival is not merely a sequence of exhibitions, but a space of encounter, dialogue and exchange. For several weeks, more than ten venues in the historic town centre are transformed into an open gallery in which architectural heritage, contemporary art and the city’s autumnal rhythm intertwine. It is precisely this convergence of culture, place and people that creates a distinctive festival experience, attracting numerous artists, arts professionals and visitors from Slovenia and abroad each year.
At the Kranj Institute of Tourism and Culture, we believe that culture and tourism are natural allies. High-quality cultural events enrich urban life, offer visitors authentic experiences and enhance Kranj’s profile as a contemporary, creative and open destination.
On the occasion of this 15th edition, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the festival’s founder, Klavdij Tutta, its artistic director, Martina Marenčič, and all the curators, artists, partners, volunteers and collaborators whose knowledge, dedication and creativity have shaped the festival’s story over the past fifteen years.
I wish you an enjoyable exploration of the exhibitions, inspiring encounters with art and many memorable moments in Kranj.
